In 2007, we prepared a slide show/video to advertise our organization. It was first viewed at our 2007 Walk for Awareness of CHD's. It has since been used numerous times to raise awareness of CHD's and God's Special Little Hearts.
It shows pictures, some graphic, of children with a congenital heart defect. It also gives CHD facts and quotes scriptures from the Bible. The song by Casting Crowns, "Praise You in this Storm", was chosen as the background music because the lyrics to the song (listed below) represent what God's Special Little Hearts is all about - praising God through the storm of CHD's. It was almost like this song was written especially for this purpose as one lyric of the song actually says, "And though my heart is torn, I will praise You in this storm."
We know that God did not intend for us to live on this earth struggle free. He only promised that He would be beside us all the time. We just have to lean on Him and give Him praise, even when times are hard. For those are the times that He is carrying us.
"Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." ~Psalm 42:5
"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
~Psalm 73:26
"Praise You in This Storm" by Casting Crowns
I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear you whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
and takes away
I'll praise You in the storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear you whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
and takes away
I'll praise You in the storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth
